A Man Who Killed His Wife Within Hours Of Their Wedding And Stuffed Her Body In A Suitcase

After the victim’s body was found in a suitcase, her husband admitted to killing his wife just hours after their marriage ended.

Dawn Walker and her murdered husband – Thomas Nutt.

Dead body in suitcase

On October 31, 2021, the body of 52-year-old woman Dawn Walker was found in a suitcase in a field in the Aysgarth Avenue area of Lightcliffe, near the town of Brighouse (England). The location is close to where she lives with her new husband, 45-year-old Thomas Nutt.

That day, Thomas also called the police to report his wife’s disappearance. The man testified that he and Dawn went on a honeymoon and, after discovering her missing, tried to drive for hours to find her whereabouts. The two just got married four days ago.

An autopsy showed the victim had multiple neck injuries. Doctors said there was a very strong force on the victim’s neck. Dawn’s family and friends are devastated by this sudden passing. Dawn is described as a kind, caring, friendly woman and a good mother.

Not long after Dawn’s body was discovered, the police found the suspect and made an arrest. This person is none other than Thomas himself.

The image on the security camera near the victim’s house shows that on October 27, she and her husband returned, still wearing a wedding dress. That was the last time the mother of three was seen alive.

At the police station, Thomas Nutt admitted to killing his wife just hours after their marriage ended.

Tragedy after the wedding

The man claimed to have attacked and strangled Dawn to death. He then hid the victim’s body in a cupboard and lied to his relatives, blaming the disappearance on Dawn’s mental health problems. Thomas also sent them messages from Dawn but was faked by him, and persuaded his stepdaughter to go with him to find her even though he knew she was dead.

Four days later, he stuffed the victim’s body in a suitcase and dumped it in the bushes near their home. The security camera footage also shows Thomas dragging a large suitcase out of the house. The killer admitted to being able to fit the body into the suitcase, he broke his wife’s leg.

Relatives of the victim said that Thomas controlled the victim for many years of love, not allowing her contact with family members. Several witnesses also said the couple had a “problematic” relationship. Neighbors once saw Dawn with bruises in her eyes and swelling on her face. After that, Thomas was arrested but the couple continued to live together after he was released.

In court, Thomas admitted to killing Walker but did not plead guilty to murder, claiming it was manslaughter while the two argued. After a three-hour argument, the jury concluded that Thomas was guilty of murder on August 19, 2022. The man was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 21 years.
